It seems as though you can’t open a newspaper or visit an online source without reading of mass layoffs and corporate downsizing. If anything, this is merely a sign that the market is shifting. Income opportunities still exist in abundance, but they are reserved for people who think outside of the box. An ideal way to become a million is to have a source of income that supplements your full-time job. The money earned from your full-time job can be used to pay your basic expenses, like housing, insurance, food, etc., but you can dedicate the money generated from the other source of income to savings and investments. The old adage “money saved is worth more than money earned” is so true – start taking advantage of it! If you currently have a savings account that’s linked to your checking and you can transfer money at the click of a button, start a separate savings account. It can be too dangerous to be able to easily transfer saved money into spendable money territory.

There are many ways to earn extra income from a home-based business. you can explore several options on the Internet, from the comfort of your home office chair. You can also take advantage of any special skills you have, like writing, playing an instrument or knowledge of a sport, to do freelance work or lessons in your neighborhood. Spend a few hours a week tutoring high school kids for the SAT or teaching piano lessons, then put that extra money into your savings account. You’ll never miss the extra income when it goes into savings because you’ll still have all your regular income pouring in.  A little enterprise and self-restraint is all it takes!
